Babbie Noms

Let's make baby foooood! And take pictures, because I have the cutest baby in the world.

Also the most awesome macro lens in the world.

Which the best husband in the world bought for me. :D

AND I have the best helpers ever.

Ta-daa!! Baby food, ready to be frozen into cute little serving-size portions, ever so convenient for warming up a few at a time whenever baby decides he wants actual real food instead of boobies.

Which will never happen.

Aaaand even the pigs and chickens get to share in the goodies!

Oh wait. I don't have any pigs or chickens. Curse this small, snobby town!

Ah well. To the faltering compost pile it goes, then! Cheers!

Baby food Recipes (of sorts):

Applesauce

7-8 apples, or however many you think you can fit in your pot of choice
That's all.

Peel and chop apples into cute little bite-size pieces. I think this is called "dicing". Or maybe it's just called chopping. I just pretend to know these things. I'm really quite ignorant. If you happen to snitch a few bites here and there while you're dicing, I won't tell. I love apples!

Toss whatever you didn't snitch into the pot. Add a small amount of filtered water (maybe 2 Tablespoons or so?) to keep the apples from burning. Put the lid on the pot, and the pot on your smallest burner and set the heat as low as possible. Forget about it for an hour or two, or until the whole house smells deliciously apple-y. Turn off the burner and take the lid off and wait for the apples to cool a bit. Or be a rebel and don't wait! I didn't, but then my kitchen habits tend to get me burnt rather regularly.

If you still have a lot of excess water, go ahead and drain some off. Transfer everything to your food processor (if you don't have one, you need one!), and blitz the heck out of it until it looks liiiiiike...applesauce!

Squash (any sort)

Get yourself a big ass sharp (SHARP) knife. And a squash. Knock the stem off (if there is any) with the handle of your (SHARP) knife (BE CAREFUL). Cut the squash in half with the sharp (SHARP) side of the knife. Put it cut-side-down on a cookie sheet (I like to use foil here, because I'm lazy about clean-up).

Bake for about 30 minutes to an hour depending on the squash (mine were Acorn squashes and took about half an hour). When you poke them and they give a little, and they smell lovely and squashy, they should be ready!

Allow to cool before scooping out the seeds (which you toss) and the flesh (which you don't). Process the flesh (such a lovely word) until it's nice and fleshy smoothly blended. There you have it!

Sweet Potatoes

However many sweet taters fit in your pan of choice
Coconut oil
Salt
Pepper

Peel and chop sweet potatoes. Place gently or throw angrily into baking dish. Add a few dollops of coconut oil (don't you love my super exact recipes?!). I used maybe 4 teaspoons for 4 sweet potatoes. Do as you wish! Sprinkle with sea salt and fresh ground pepper (if you're a food snob, like me). Cover with foil (or the lid to your baking dish, if you should be so fortunate as to have one), and bake 40 minutes to an hour, or until the dish is nice and sizzly and mushy when jabbed with a fork.

Once cooled, transfer to food processor and process into baby food. OR...don't wait for it to cool and scoff the lot before the baby can get it. YUMMMM.

Bananas

Bananas
Nothing else.

Peel bananas. Process bananas. Come on, people.
